Customers have the right to refer their dispute to the Insurance Ombudsman (AAS) for out-of-court settlement of insurance-related disputes, pursuant to IVASS Regulation No. 163/2025.
The Insurance Ombudsman is an independent and impartial body accessible to both individuals and businesses when — following a complaint to the insurance undertaking or intermediary — no response is received within the statutory timeframe, or the response is unsatisfactory. The AAS issues its decision within 180 days, offering a quicker and less burdensome alternative to ordinary litigation.

Access to the Insurance Ombudsman is free of charge for customers. The right to resort to other ADR bodies or to the competent judicial authority remains unaffected.
